New Age Couture

In 2010 I decided to be a fashion designer.  Studying in a fashion school, in that environment was one of the most inspirational spaces I have been in. But that year also made me realise the effort and creativity designers put in  mastering the art. And one of the most important thing I learnt was adding a part of yourself in everything you create. Which Resulted in me feeling a whole new respect for designers.

Collaboration with Anjali Wadhwani

Anjali Wadhwani is a Pune based fashion designer & has been on the fore-front of creating bespoke bridal, formal & semi-formal garments for over a decade now. Her design philosophy is inspired by vintage elements with contemporary styling.
Along with a recently launched flagship store in Pune, her label is now making its mark internationally. Anjali has recently started exhibiting her collection across key locations like New York/New Jersey & Florida within United States.

Design Process

I was invited to meet Anjali last month to proceed with a collaboration. I was excited to learn that she would customise an outfit for me.  When I went over there three things initially struck me - Her beautiful and earthy design studio, Her humble personality & Her colourful and elegant collection displayed beautifully. Her collection included her - Indo Western Line, Luxury Pret Designs, Bridal Gowns & Wedding Collection.

We sat down and instantly started talking about fashion around the world, Fashion on runways, how global and economic circumstances in a country affect fashion etc. We spoke about my personal style and what I was looking for. Customisation is her Forte. She went ahead and illustrated an exquisite design.

    The Reveal

Seeing a sketch and transforming that into a beautiful garment is the most exciting part of the design process. Indigo blue and silver sequins - The contrast of this colour scheme is turned out stunning. The slit adds so much edge to the outfit which makes it perfect to wear on different occasions since the bottoms can be styled differently. I paired this outfit with white pants and nude shoes to create a bight sky like combination.

Its amazing to see how a designers creative vision aligns with a customers requirement. As for me, I genuinely admire her designs and look forward to flaunt more of - Anjali Wadhwani Couture.

Fresh Florals

Its been a while since I played with colours and prints. The temperature seems to be increasing & I couldn't be more happier. In this post I am flaunting this beautiful navy floral printed dress from Amydus. I wore this dress recently on a date night & I was showered with plenty compliments for my outfit. This dress can be so easily styled for a night look as well. Its eye-catching & has the perfect plus size fit. Floral prints have got plenty of love when it comes to fashion trends and it never gets old. I paired this bright and fresh dress with a beige bag from (big buddha)and light gold heels  from  ( aldo ) and some white and colourful bracelets.

Its time to greet some sunshine

Out with the Old - In with the Bold

Its been a crazy beginning to 2017. I have been ecstatic and overwhelmed at the same time with the amount of love I have received. I have been wanting to dedicate a post to my journey as a 'plus size fashion' blogger and certain goals I have created along the way.

I get asked so many questions on daily basis , where girls dm' me asking - How did I start? How did I become a plus size fashion blogger? How can they be one as well? I have no one answer to these questions but I do have something to share.

- Growing up, I always had an eye for fashion. I was very influenced by my grandmother who at the time had a fashion boutique. Growing up in that environment I developed certain qualities and always experimented with fashion, which also lead to doing a fashion designing course.
One of my favourite or only hobby in my teen years - was wearing my favourite outfit and posing in front of the camera. Now when I look back it's what I have been doing ever since. When you combine fashion and photography and effortless fashion blogger is born. I have never hesitated to pose and flaunt-  that gave me the confidence to be who I am.

I create something in my head, a style and how its suppose to look and I thrive to make it come alive in photos.
I started my blog in 2014
You can check out my first post here & here I had a phone, I went to a decent location , I created a blog on blogger - I wrote a little and that's how the journey began. Its no rocket science. But more than this, there was a desire to show  'what she can wear' - I can wear it too. It all about getting out of your comfort zone and finding what suits you the best. This blog that I started as a hobby as now become my full-time job. I partner with brands and do various collaborations but in this process the key is to always stay true to myself and my audience.

I never understood the concept of 'plus size fashion' I just happen to be plus size and I just happen to love fashion. Everyone has struggles, even I did. But my love for fashion and the desire to do something in this field gave me a confident voice. The society portrays fashion in a very different way & social media also creates an impact.  But I am here using social media to change the game in a small way. I am using the resources available to me to create a positive impact. 'Body confidence' is not just a big word that looks good, The struggle is real but its not impossible.

'You shouldn't wear that, you will look fat in it' '   'That short dress won't suit you, your legs will look fat'   ' That dress is too tight,  look at your belly showing'   ' Crop tops for you? Seriously!!

Either you submit to this criticism or your get on with being your own amazing self that you are. Its your body and you get to make the rules.

Casuals With Grace

Being a plus size woman, One of the things I do not have to worry about is purchasing my outfits at a local store. Most of the local stores around do not carry plus size clothing. Internet shopping / Online shopping has been one of the most rapidly growing markets in India. A brand that I recently came across which has completely impressed me with their variety of clothing is Amydus. It is a brand dedicated to cater the needs of plus size clothing.

In this post, I am wearing Olive Relax Trousers paired with a Black Round Neck T-shirt . There have been rarely any occasions that you have seen me in trousers. Honestly because I haven't found the perfect fit. But its all about getting out of your comfort zone and experimenting & I am so glad I did. Even after the shoot I can't stop reaching out for these trousers. The colour itself is fabulous. Eye-catching, sporty and bold. Trust me, I am living in these trousers.

Every girl should have one basic black tee and I have found mine. This one is so easy to style & there are many different colours available on website as well.

There is no need to go over the top when it comes to plus size dressing , Its about carrying the most comfortable and casual outfits with grace.
